Hey guys what an awesome day we had yesterday... God is doing amazing things in my life and the life of the church....
Here are some excepts of yesterday's teaching
2 principles Jesus taught us from MARK 2:23-38

1. Human Need (salvation ect) is far greater than religious ritual

2. Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath...

Here is the deal..we NEED our sabbath rest.. make sure you have a day that you can rest... no honey do's or projects but a day in which you can recharge your batteries...
Spiritually speaking... Hebrews 3... talks about a REST that only Jesus can bring... putting your faith and trust in HIM

On Monday, May 18, Ben Martinez, pastor of Calvary Chapel Lubbock, 4218 Boston Ave., was up early.
By 6:52 a.m., he had finished his quiet time, listened to a Christian podcast, and was on his way to the gym. From approximately noon to 1 p.m., he ate lunch at Mi Tierra with someone named Ricky and took a picture of Ricky with his cell phone. From 3:11 p.m. to 3:19 p.m. he listened to a version of "I Surrender All" on the Internet. At 5 p.m. he headed back to the gym, planning to go to Starbucks afterward. He finished his workout by 7:27 p.m.

It was a busy day.
And if you were one of the currently 98 people who follow him on Twitter, you'd know all about it.
Twitter, an internet microblogging service that allows users to "tweet" their opinions, whereabouts, and plans in abbreviated real-time, is the newest kid on the social networking block.
Friends are made. Lives are followed.
Its appeal is rooted in its haiku-esque functionality, which restricts individual posts to 140 characters.
Church leaders across the country have quickly caught on and more and more are harnessing Twitter's power, as well as that of other sites like Facebook, for the Kingdom of God.
Lubbock pastors are no exception. Some use for it fellowship, some for outreach.
Martinez is one of several local pastors who utilizes the service to foster a sense of community within his congregation and keep church members instantly in the loop, not only regarding church happenings, but their personal lives as well.
"It's a good way to keep our congregation updated on prayer requests or events in the church," he says. "Also people are really just interested in people's lives. Like, 'oh, what's the pastor doing? What's he studying?' "
But most importantly, says Martinez, who regularly cites Bible verses in his tweets, "it's a means to preach the Gospel. A means to encourage and exhort people."
On Good Friday, members of New York's Wall Street Trinity Church twittered the details of Christ's final hours on earth with usernames like @JosephArimithea, @pontius_Pilate, and @_JesusChrist.
A May issue of "Time" magazine reported on tech-savvy churches that incorporated Twitter into their services. They encouraged members to twitter their thoughts on the sermon - which are instantly relayed to church video screens - as a running interactive commentary. Offering a digital spin on the idea that nothing done for God is in vain, the magazine quoted one pastor as saying, "If God leads you to continue (Twitter) as a form of worship, by all means do it."
At that, Martinez chuckles.
"I did hear of some churches that will do that, where you can tweet or text your questions while the pastor is actually preaching," he said. "We're not at that point ... we're just doing it as a means of staying connected in this day and age."

Fasting Part II

Biblical Fasting - Is there a proper method to fasting?Biblical fasting, unlike fasting for medical or health reasons, must be done with an attitude of seriousness and sincerity. When we fast, we willingly deprive the body of nourishment and the pleasurable taste of food. The body requires food for sustenance; therefore our hearts and minds must be totally focused and directed towards God so that He may be the full source of our strength during our period of fasting. Fasting must also be done in an attitude of humility. It is not necessary for others to know we are fasting; it is directed towards God. “But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you” (Matthew 6:17-18).

In addition to our attitudes towards God and our stance before man, our motives must also be correct. We should fast in order to further the building up of God’s kingdom by seeking to minister to others. The prophet Isaiah received from the Lord the acceptable motives for our fasts: “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter -- when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?” (Isaiah 58:6-7).

Fasts may last for varying lengths of time -- one day, three days, seven days, and more. We should prayerfully seek the Lord about the length of our fast. Fasting should have an object in mind; we should have a clear idea of the need and purpose. One of the most pressing reasons for Christian fasting may be revival -- “Will you not revive us again. . .” (Psalm 85:6).

Seems like every time I study or listen to podcast the theme of Fasting comes up... a biblical fast...
So what is fasting... its purpose and how can I get closer go God by doing it... well the bible declares in that a "biblical fast" is abstaining from food for Spiritual reasons....
I came across this article that I thought would help.... Here is Part I of a three part series on Fasting...

Biblical Fasting - Is fasting necessary for today’s Christian church?
Biblical fasting is a spiritual discipline which was encouraged by Jesus, Himself, while He was on earth. When questioned as to why the Pharisees and the disciples of John the Baptist fasted while Jesus disciples did not, Jesus answered, "How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while he is with them? The time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast” (Matthew 9:15). Jesus was indicating that fasting would become a necessity when, the bridegroom (Jesus) was taken away. While Jesus, who was God manifested in human form, was still on earth, His followers enjoyed a close fellowship and friendship with Him. Jesus bestowed power and authority on them to the extent that they had limited power to preach, heal the sick, and cast out devils. Similarly, when Jesus sent them out to minister to the populace, He instructed them to take few provisions. “Then Jesus asked them, ‘When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?’ ‘Nothing,’ they answered. He said to them, ‘But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one’” (Luke 22:35-36). Jesus was teaching that after His departure, the entire dynamic would change and the disciples would need a different type of preparation and provision.
Fasting was to be a vital part of this new preparation. The new covenant is based on the truth that we have received everything in Christ, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3). Nevertheless, we cooperate with the Spirit in the working out of our salvation with much prayer, meditation, and the study of God’s Word. In addition to all these spiritual practices, Christians should also employ the humbling discipline of fasting.

Been thinking about journaling lately... really sitting down and allowing the Lord to speak but taking some time to write down what the Lord has said...
see at times He speak so clear... I love it... but as human as I am... I forget... yes that's right... sometimes forget what God has said... so in prayer I have decided to begin journaling again...
what ever the Lord wants to speak... I will write down and refer to from time to time...

Micheal Sweet was the front man for the 80's christian rock group called STRYPER... they were married over 23 yrs and have two older children...

Kyle Sweet was diagnosed with cancer in 2007 lost herbattle on 2009 - she is in the presence of Jesus

Hello everyone.. this past week has had it's many challenges.. but one thing I truly desire it hear the voice of the Lord.. Not so much a audible voice but hearing what He has to say to me in my times of learning & growing - this week I found a excerpt on hearing God's voice.. enjoy

Hearing God's Voice - Are You Ready to Listen? Hearing God's voice is something we all long for-but did you know that it's not hard to do? In fact, God wants you to hear His voice! Hearing the voice of God is as natural as hearing your best friend talk to you. What's more, we can hear Him everyday. He speaks to us in the natural moments of life. Do you want to hear God's voice? Then you must be ready to listen.

Hearing God's Voice - Why Do You Want to Hear Him? Why do you want to hear God's voice? That may sound like a silly question, but motives are important in anything we do. The Bible says this about God's Word: "For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12) Do you want to hear God's voice? If you do, it's possible you're hearing Him already, for He may be the one giving you the longing to hear Him.
Hearing God's Voice in the Bible - In his book Knowing God, J. I. Packer says, "God has spoken to man, and the Bible is His Word, given to us to make us wise unto salvation." The Bible itself declares, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" (John 1:1). In another place, we read: "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness." (2 Timothy 3:16). Do you want to hear God's voice? Then read the Bible. Find a good daily reading plan, and stick to it.
Hearing God's Voice through Prayer -When you want to have a conversation with someone, how do you begin? Do you stand in front of the person and hope they will talk to you? That might work, if the other person is outgoing enough, but usually we begin a conversation by opening our own mouths and talking, engaging the other person's attention. It's the same with God! He loves to hear us talk to Him, and it's in those moments that we prepare ourselves to hear the voice of God.
In an ordinary conversation, we speak, then listen for the response of the other person. It's the same with God! Once we've prepared our hearts to listen through prayer, we're more likely to hear the voice of God. Does He speak to us through an audible voice? Some claim He does, but usually that's not the case. We may not actually "hear" the voice of God, but He speaks to us in many ways. Here are some of them:
God speaks through His Word
God speaks through our thoughts
God speaks through conversations with others
God speaks through circumstances

Hey everyone, just a note to ponder???

What is a Quiet Time? Spending time with the One who created me is the best thing I could think of... Here is an excerpt on the subject...

Quiet Time - Be Still and Listen -Quiet time could refer to those precious moments after the kids are in bed, but for Christians, a quiet time is more than that. Quiet time, or devotion time, refers to our daily appointment with God, when we shut out as much outside interference as possible.

Quiet Time - The Outer Challenge -Quiet time is a goal that sounds simple, but which meets with greater challenges than many physical endurance contests. In America particularly, we live in a world of noise. Everywhere we go, even in our own homes, there is some kind of noise to distract us, from telephones to TV to traffic. But making time for daily devotion is critical to hearing God!

Quiet Time - The Inner Challenge -Quiet time involves an inner state of being, as well as an outward condition. Have you ever noticed that when you sit down to read your Bible or pray, your mind begins to wander or you suddenly remember what you needed at the grocery store? Inner "noise" can be just as troublesome as outer noise when it comes to having quiet time with God.

Quiet Time - What's the Big Deal? Why Is It Important?Quiet time can be so difficult to prioritize. It's tempting to make excuses or just not bother. Preparing our hearts to hear from God requires a focused effort. Noise, whether outside or inside, distracts us. If we fail to understand the importance of having a regular, committed quiet time with God, we are not likely to hear His voice…the one that whispers, "This is the way; walk in it" (Isaiah 30:21). God longs to spend time with us. Consider what He was willing to do for us, in order to reunite us with Him. Is it asking too much that we devote daily time to Him?

Men's Fellowship Pizza Party!

We had a great time last night... we did something different.. Instead of our Saturday Morning fellowship, we had a pizza party fellowship... complete with Worship and a short devotional from Pastor Sof...
Then we played darts and had a pool tournament... Jacob Finley emerged the victor of the pool tournament...

What a great time we had encouraging each other, praying for each other and trying to win 1st place in Pool... Just a bunch of Guy.... who love Jesus....

I love my in laws... they have a great sense of humor.. anyways... they are working on a date..sometime in the summer...yikes! Ask me how I am doing then... My youngest in already married and living in OKC and now Talia... I pray the very best for both... it was going to happen I know... but I prayed for the rapture to come 1st...

Hello all, I thank my God and Lord Jesus Christ for all he has given me... we are having a wonderful time... doing what you ask?..." NOTHING" just resting and taking naps... went to eat last night at placed called " The Country Barn" best steaks in Amarillo... the waiter even treated us to a free dessert... peach cobbler with ice cream... then we went to Barnes and Noble for a Coffee...

Great Insight to I Samuel 21

Hello all... what a great bible study we had last night.... We have had some great insight to I Samuel 21... Tiffany Gipson wrote this... so I can't take any credit... It is amazing how God works in each of our lives...

Here it is ... be blessed...

The Match UP.. Friends and acquaintances, how do they match up? Jonathan and David or Saul and Doeg the edomite , how does your friendships match up? I found it interesting that the old saying birds of a feather flock together rang true for these guys. David and Jonathan and a true friendship because it involved the Lord, but Saul and Doeg the edomite well that’s a different story. Doeg seems to be as corrupt as Saul. Was he being loyal to the king by turning in David or was he hoping for a reward? See Saul and Doeg relationship clearly had motives, but Jonathan and David’s relationship was pure.. So the question again, How do your friendships match up?

Ben the Tile Guy! It is Finished

Remember around a month ago, our shower was kinda leaking and once again my wife tells me about it... I sorta didn't hear her cuz then it would be a small taskon my day off...or so I thought....
Then one Saturday I decided to take a look and see if I could fix the ailing shower. So I headed over to the Home Depot to pick up a few things... headed home to try and "fix it" well long story short, 7 hours later and several trips to Ace Hardware and a MAJOR leak... we had to call a plumber. It was an emergency! Well the plumber came in and replaced the whole assembly in the shower wall... what was left was a big hole and a bucket full of tile ( thank God none of them broke) Well after talking to some of the guys at church I decided to tackle the tile replacement myself... ( oh no not again ) I know!
Well a month and a few days later it is all done... from the wall board to the sealer... all done!

Men's Retreat

We had a great time at this year's Men's Retreat. We had great food and wonderful fellowship, the teaching was incredible, Pastor Tripp from Jacksonville Fl. was such a blessing. We played football and won!! Micheal caught a pass with just a few minutes to play to put CCL in the win category...good job mike. Pastor Terry almost intercepted and that would have been bad... all in all we had a great time... a little tired.. we stayed up until 2:00am on Friday just talking about the Lord... amen... here are some pics of us on the road... What an amazing time we had last night.... we showed Pastor Greg's documentary " Lost Boy" and the place was buzzing... Serveral people gave thier lives to the Lord... We were totally stoked! Here are some pics of last night... we are praying about another showing in November... Let me know what you think?

Season of Growth...

Remember I told a story of how I worked in the Yard one Saturday and I mowed the lawn, next thing you know I began giving our wisteria bushes a trim... they were way out of control.. well I ended up giving one of them a "bad haircut" if you will so I began to chop everything down to the root... Now I did this so by next year they would be standing straight and hopefully bloom. So when I got done... we had what looked like two very unhealthy roots hanging on to poles... but something amazing began to happen.... It began to bloom and blossom... Sometimes we feel like that Wisteria bush... pruned, cut, and yet in a few short days... we begin to show signs of fruit blossoming from our lives...

Hebrews says it this way -12:11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

So in this time of pruning and chastening... know that God Loves you and watch for the fruit to come soon...

Marriage Conference & Super Sunday

We made it... what a great weekend... We did the marriage conference on Friday and Saturday, my good friend Pastor Ron Arbaugh from CC San Antonio with his lovely wife came and spoke to our couples and brought a wonderful and timely message... this was more of a Jesus conference wrapped around in overtones of marriage... so cool.... Also another special treat... Another good friend from Santa Fe, NM who kinda taught me to play guitar came to Lubbock and did worship for the conference and Sunday Morning... ( Please pray for Josh.. we miss him) His name is Kurt (see pic) we have been friends for 18 yrs... what a blessing it was... very tired....

So anyways... what next.... Oct 22nd @ 7:00 pm " Greg Lauries" Lost Boy documentary outreach.... make sure and invite several friends.... It is going to be good...

Well this Wednesday we are continuing in our study of I Samuel 18: 1-16 ,, Sunday we are back in Acts 2:14-40- Peter's first Teaching... filled with the Holy Spirit... What a Revival.... you don't want to miss it....

What a Great Sunday!!!

Yesterday was Amazing!! very busy but it was awesome...

Sunday Morning Service: Talked about being "filled" with the Holy Spirit of God.... get the cd...

Went and had a baptism: Jonathon was baptized and we ate pizza.. cool

from there we went to play Basketball.... yes after all that we played for about 1hr and 1/2 ...

need to get back into my game...

Then we headed back to church for a good old fashion Prayer Meeting.... we put the chairs in a circle and I taught and explained Acts 2:1-13 again... this was interactive... then we spent a hour in prayer... we prayed the " Wonderful Works of GOD"! The Lord showed up in a BIG way.... great testimonies came from this meeting... So all in all it was great....

Moving forward: This Wednesday Night we will be in I Samuel 17... In a message entitled " A Crisis in Confrontation" You don't want to miss....

This weekend we are having our Marriage Conference, My good friend Pastor Ron Arbaugh and his wife will be with us... We have a great number of couples signed up... Can't Wait...

Pastor Ron will bring the message on Sunday, with a special friend from Santa Fe leading us in Worship. Kurt Saenz has been a friend for 15 yrs... even taught me a little guitar...

Please invite a friend.... it will be great....

The Hand of God...

Hey I thought this was cool... It is a " Cloud" that forms the hand of the Lord... Now the reason it was cool to me is because I have been studying Acts 1:9-26 and in verse 9 we see that Jesus was taken up in a " Cloud." At first read you discover that Jesus was taken in a cloud... but upon further study and knowing the O.T. for the better part of Exodus ect, we see that a cloud represents GOD's Glory... It was in a cloud that the Lord let Israel through the wilderness, it was a cloud that covered the Ark, a cloud that descended upon Mt Sinai which was the Glory of God...

So what better way to show a "cloud" that forms the Hand of God...

Hello, hope all is well, here is a quick update on what's happening this week @ Calvary...

1. Please continue to pray for Pastor Josh... His knee is not getting better and most likely have to have surgery... We sure miss him...

2. Mike and Jordan have done a good job filling in each Wednesday and Sunday leading us in worship..

Tomorrow night we will be in I Samuel 16:1-13 in a message Entitled " God looks at the Heart"

We now move into the calling and anointing of David.. Amazing time in the word...

Sunday we will be in Acts 1:9-26.. where we see Floating, Exploding & Voting... no this is not our current election...

We will also have a baptism at Paul and Mary house... thank you so much for the use of the pool and house...

If you would like to be baptised please see me after service.

oops I almost forgot...

Women's brunch on Saturday Morning... 10:00am at the house of Soozi LaSarge. This is the first one of the Season and looking forward to what God wants to do with the women of Calvary...

Hello everyone... it's been busy week... Since last Wednesday lots of stuff has happened..
1. Pastor Josh got hurt at work... Knee Injury... Please Pray for him...
2. We had Son Catchers as Guest worship on Sunday - They were Great... A little Old School but awesome...
3. Started a new book.. the book of Acts... we just did the intro... Hey please be aware that you can get each Sundays teaching pretty quick... Just go to www.calvarychapellubbock.org and click on the listen now... you can hear and get caught up... p.s. also working on pod-casting... cool.
4. Holiday on Monday-- took a partial day off but spent it watching a three hour documentary on rock and roll and how they sold their soul to the devil... amazing...
5. went to the hospital but only as a volunteer chaplain... Russ and I are now official chaplains for the UMC... Hey if you would like to be one just see me... we could use more...
6. Studied for tonight message.. entitled " To Obey is Better than Sacrifice" I am so busted.. come out tonight and find out why?
7. Mike Gipson will lead worship tonight... Jordan did last week using his piano and did a great job... thanks Jordan for being faithful..
8. busy, busy and busy... I have to study for Sunday's message Acts 1:1-8 the holy spirit don't leave home without him...

Well, it was the fastest 5 days ever... We just got back from San Antonio yesterday and it seem to be the fastest vacation ever... I was asked today if I was rested and immediately I said no not really... oh well, but it was a grand time.. So good to be back home... just getting into the swing of things is the hard part...

Today is a great day...food wise that is... today Dion's gave us a VIP party and for lunch Nathalie and I went to tour their new restaurant on 82nd St. We used to eat at Dion's when we lived in Rio Rancho/ Albuquerque and we loved the food. Today we broke our diet and had pizza...yup planning to go to the gym later.... but it was good, I told Nathalie that we must be getting old cuz going to Dion's for lunch was to much FUN! Anyways we had a blast.. they officially open on Wednesday and the food is great...

What an Amazing week!!!

Hello all, hope your doing well, what a week we had... as most of you know we had a death in the family and had to go to NM for the funeral... what a week... We found out last Monday and decided to go on Wednesday... I had to prepare for Sunday on Wednesday just in case I didn't have time to study... We left on Thursday at 4:00am yes that's right..4:00am to drive the 6 hr trip to Los Lunas NM.. after the funeral we went to Calvary Abq's book store... then we popped in at Calvary Chapel Rio Rancho... very quiet there... then we made our way to Santa Fe.. Had some dinner at DION's great place... opening soon in Lubbock...yea...

Around 8:00pm we were so tired... I was saying things... i don't recall i said... anyways... Nathalie's brother came over and we didn't get to bed until 11:00pm NM time which would be 12:00am Lubbock time...

Got up the next morning had coffee outside in the cool of the morn...awesome.. went to have some breakfast... visited my dad... made sure he was OK... then around 4:30pm head back to Lubbock... talk about a Rambo trip... I took all day Saturday to recover...

So Sunday came around and we had a great time...God is so faithful... the message was entitled the "Day God Died" out of John 19:16-42... Great worship..

I am so pumped about what's coming up in the next few weeks... I Samuel 12... on Wednesday with communion... Friday brings 4th of July... fireworks and 4th on Broadway...

and Sunday... John 20:1-18... Busy week for the Lord...

Integrity... Wednesday Night Bible Study

In almost every profession there is a renewed call for integrity among leaders. A fresh call to lead with integrity is happening among leaders in law, medicine, business, education, politics, sports, and ministry, not to mention everyday life. Everyone wants leaders with integrity, thinks it’s important and definitely wants it demonstrated toward them. But fewer and fewer leaders seem to value integrity, know what it is, how to develop it, maintain it personally, or demonstrate it professionally.
Some leaders have a view of integrity that is too simplistic.
If they have not had an affair or stolen money, then they have integrity!
Unfortunately, it’s not that simple. Maintaining integrity means more than appropriate sexual and fiscal behavior..
Listen while those are important issues, integrity touches all areas of a leaders life.
On Wednesday in our study we will see a man who has so demonstrated this quality trait known as integrity. Samuel is old and gray headed and now is not bowing out but simply taking a back seat role to what Israel wanted… Much like John the Baptist when he spoke of Jesus.. Saying “ I must decrease and He increase”

That's what we will look at on Wednesday Night... so come on out for a great time in worship and God's WORD...

Also remember as we continue our study in John 19... a study I have entitled " The Day God Died! You don't want to miss it... Sunday @ 10;00 am and invite a friend...

Please pray for Nathalie's extended family, She lost an Uncle this week to a heart attack.. Pray for God comfort and peace in that family...

Update on Tristan

Hey everyone... here is a quick update on Trissy; Mom and Dad say she is doing good, they took her off the ventilator yesterday and she seems to be doing very well. Mike and Tiffany hopefully got some sleep last night. I talked to Mike last night around 9:30 pm and they were headed over to the Hotel/Ronald McDonald House... Pray for rest for them... Pray for Trissy to recover fast and for Kaedence not to miss mom and dad so much.
Anyways..
Just want to remind you that Tomorrow is the women's brunch at Soozi's Home... come on out for a great time in the word and fellowship/prayer... you don't want to miss it...

Sunday: John 18:28-40 " Who's on Trial?" Several bizarre trials they took Jesus through... But His Mind and Heart were set to redeem us... I love Him for that...

Home Again.

Well, I finally made back home... The flight was not to stressful, just about a 15 minute delay in Dallas. Mike and Tiffany are doing well, Trissy is recovering super... please continue to pray for them.. they might be home next week...

It is very HOT! here in Lubbock... I am studying for tonight's teaching in I Samuel 10... come on out for a great time in worship and in the word...

So back home in Lubbock, missed this place.. so good to "know" where you are going.. I had to use a GPS in San Antonio.. They really work... Trying to do that with just a map... I think i would still be there, looking for the hospital... But anyways... God is Good... and I will see you tonight...

Hello all, God is so Good... What an awesome God we serve.. We spent the day praying on the 1/2 hour for trissy & christi ( margie's daughter) and the Lord is so faithful.. Trissy is now in the Intensive Care Unit and is doing good.. she had a fever last night (around 102 degrees) but the fever broke and right now she is sleeping with no fever.. Mom and Dad are doing good despite getting somewhat lost last night anyways...

God is amazing, as I was driving to the hospital this morning the Lord reminded me that HE IS GOD! We should be so thankful everyday...

Home Sweet Home

Hello, well i made it... back home that is... I missed you guys like everything... Heard we had some "Interesting Challenges" this week... Spiritual warfare to say the least... but God is good...

As I was flying in last night, it was kinda late... around 10:30pm.. and I saw the lights of Lubbock.... The Lord spoke ever so gently... People need me here, He said... As I look across the city.. I proclaimed " This will be my city and these will be my people" They need Jesus like never before... Time is running out... the enemy is attacking from within and without... PLEASE be ready...

Well had a great time in SoCal at the Sr Pastors conference..The Lord spoke so clearly to me.. Now the conference was titled Pastoring in the Last days... But the Lord spoke to me 3 things...

Now I prayed for each item the Lord spoke about..

1. I needed a Heart for evangelism: I asked for a double portion..

2. I need a heart for teaching: to make disciples of Jesus

3. I need a heart of a shepherd: its a labor of Love...

So please pray and we will see what God is going to do here in Lubbock...

Hey don't forget.. SUNDAY is VISION SUNDAY! Just finished power point on the message... come out and bring a friend... The gospel will be preached.... That's this Sunday.. 10:00am

Hello all, just soaking it all in... I have had a great time sitting at the feet of the Lord... He is teaching me so much... It has been such a wonderful time... But I miss you guys so much... can't wait to come home tomorrow...

Right now @7:54pm listening to Norman Geisler teach on the Emergent church... Amazing... we then get to preview the new movie from Pastor Greg Laurie called " Lost Boy" I bought the book at Harvest the other day... Should be a great outreach tool.

We thought that we were going to have to pay for broken air conditioners ... but come to find out that the hail had damaged them and the Landlord replace both Air Conditioners... Upgraded one.. and finally it is cool in the church.. thank you Jesus... you are always faithful when we are not...

Baptism Yesterday...WOW!

Hey everyone... what a great day we had yesterday.. Great worship.. Josh rocks... I taught on Peter's Red Flag Warnings... What a great time we had yesterday... several people prayed to rededicate their lives to God... He is so Amazing.... then we headed over to Paul and Mary's Home for our baptism... what a "great" time we had.. We had several people get baptized some for the 1st time others rededicating their lives to HIM.. I am amazed at what God continues to do in Lubbock TX.. with a bunch of misfits... He is way cool... I will try and post a video of he baptism as soon as we get it produced...

Amarillo Here I Come...

Well on Monday I made my way to Amarillo, not for fun but for a Dr's appointment for my truck... You see on Saturday when I went to start it... well it didn't.. Mike Gipson came over after the men's fellowship breakfast and knew just what the problem was... Fuel Pump.. a couple of hits on the bottom of the gas tank... and it started right up... Now I am told by my friend Kevin ( who worked on the truck) that start is a "free one" get it to the mechanic ASAP.. Well through much prayer .. the cost was about a billion dollars... ( $635.00) but if you don't have it... it could be a billion. Well Mike and I thought we could do it... but I had never seen it done or anything... Mike was confident... I was a little scared... well after much prayer the Lord put on my heart a good friend who goes to Grace Church in Amarillo, he fixed my truck once before... I called him on Sunday and he said if you can get it here... we fixed for a very reasonable price.. not free but a good price... so Monday morning around 7:45am I was off to Amarillo... the truck started (thank you Jesus) and I was on my way... I had no problems and when I got there we picked up the part and 2 hrs later he was DONE... Praise God... But not only did my truck get fixed... I found a great way to Outreach our Youth in Lubbock...turns out that Kevin is a race car driver and he showed me his latest creation... (check out pics) we thought we would bring it down here and turn it on in the neighborhood... what power, speed, looks, and yet what a platform to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to others... well that's my story...

don't forget we will be in I Samuel 9... The Sovereignty of God!! bring a friend.. I can't wait to see what God will do...

Jesus is King of Kings Amen!

Hey sorry I haven't posted in awhile it's been a long week... It started out with what I thought was a stomach bug... but ended up being the flu... I was out of it on Monday and Tuesday... Thank God by Wednesday night I was running around 90%.. The study was awesome... we had great worship, Josh rocks. I taught our of I Samuel 8... How Israel demanded a King... for security and battles... and yet we do that same thing... what kings are we asking for each and every day of our lives... It should only be the KING OF KINGS...

Well I just finished studying for Sunday... we will be in John 18:1-14 " A Betrayal, Arrest and a Missing Ear" Come out for a time of worship and teaching... hey don't forget to invite someone..

Don't forget tomorrow is our monthly Men's Fellowship Breakfast.. Starts at 7:00am and It wouldn't be the same without you.

On a sad note... Please pray for my friend Wayne.. his brother passed away today.. keep him and his family in prayer...

Happy Mother's Day...

Hey guys... just wanted to say Hope you have a Happy Mothers day.. We will be in John 17... as we continue to make our way through this Gospel.... We normally don't do a special message on holidays.. Our heart is to be very cautious with those who have lost children or can't have children... We believe that Mom's are the best... as a matter of fact I have a great mother in law who is awesome. So we just try to let people know how much we do love them... but try not to make them feel less special or yucky simply due to what life has given them... so we will be in John 17 " the real lords prayer" but you might want to invite a friend who doesn't know the Lord, it will be a awesome message with a great invitation to join God's family... You don't want to miss it... God instructions are clear... Go therefore and make disciples of all nations...
That's our vision... To teach people to become faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. Hope to see you on Sunday...

Monday's Thought Life- Evangelism

Hello, hope you are doing well. We had an awesome service yesterday.. The teaching was out of John 16:16-33 Jesus gives His farewell address and teaches His Disciples that People will See Him if they look with the eyes of their heart. Through out the ages people can see Jesus in the lives of true believers... What an awesome day... 2 people prayed to receive Christ and I believe that we have turned the corner... So our thought life is on evangelism. Everyone Needs Jesus.. We need to be passionate about Him and let Him shine and reflect in our lives... then people will see the Risen Savior....
On another note: We had a blast in Florida, we learned so much and ate so much.. the trip back home was long... but man is it good to be "Home" I love this place and I love you guys...
It was so good to sleep in your own bed... Well better go for now... we have some folks painting so I'm wondering what they are up to..haha..

Fort Lauderdale Trip

Pastor Sof and I are in Fort Lauderdale and now in Miami on a whirl wind trip of learning. We spent the day in CC Fort Lauderdale and that was amazing! Its so big... We ended up at my friends Church in Kendall. I Love Pastor Pedro and the ministry team here. Make Disciples!

Hello, what a amazing week this has been. I talked to several people and shared the vision that God has given me for this church. I was able to share with Paul, and Pastor Dion, Pastor Steve and a lot of other fellows about the vision and mission of CCL. We are called to Make Disciples. In a city that is filled with people who need Jesus.. Everything we do needs to be filtered through our is it going to make disciples?
How? Well the mission is the way we get to where we are going...right?
Our Mission as a church is: To Teach People To Be Faithful Disciples of Jesus Christ!
Our Purpose for existing... to bring Glory to God in everything we do...
So we are on our way... exciting things are about to happen in this church in the near future...
God is going to be glorified in our lives as we move from compromise to commitment.
Sunday I will be teaching from John 16:8-15 in a message I entitled Life in High Def... Holy Spirit what do you do? Last week we saw Who HE is... now we will look at what His ministry is here on earth. I love it... Invite some friends. WE are on the very threshold of our New updated Radio Program. My really good friend Mike Shaw (more like a brother) is producing them and it sounds fantastic...
We will be on the Radio in San Angelo, Lubbock, and prayerfully in other areas of the country.
Please Pray...
Next Week will be an exciting week.. I will be in Florida for the latter part of the week and will try and post and send pics... Calvary Fort Lauderdale here we come.... cool

Hello, it's Monday what a weekend!

Hey, all what a busy weekend we had here.. The women's retreat was this weekend and they left on friday to go t Amarillo, I heard they had an incredible time. Then we had our monthly men's breakfast fellowship and what a great morning that was.. We ate and Pastor Sof spoke on putting the whole armor of God as men...a super great time on Saturday...

Sunday came around and the message was out of John 16:7 (just one verse) but we learned Who the Holy Spirit is.. a awesome 3rd PERSON of the triune Godhead.. we even gave folks a chance who wanted to be prayed for to come forward. Amazing time... went to lunch at Chili's turned around and came back to church for our Afterglow.. called SNL.. sunday night live... we also had a wonderful time of praise and worship..followed by teaching and a time of waiting on the Lord to speak to our hearts. God showed up and we were truly blessed...

so there you have it... totally tired but in a good way.... This Wednesday Night were back in I Samuel 6 .. come on out for a great time and learn about His Word...
